The number of titles released by Steam in 2022 exceeded all expectation, bringing in a new world record

Last year, Steam released approximately 11,000 new titles, which is the largest number of releases in the platform’s history. Over the last five years, Steam, the biggest platform for PC gaming, has experienced a significant increase in the number of new releases. The yearly amount of newly released games has skyrocketed by 73%, hitting a record high in 2022.

It’s safe to say that Steam has revolutionized the PC gaming industry and remains the go-to platform for gamers worldwide. Steam is the immediate reference when talking about PC gaming due to its significant presence in this market, with an extensive user database and a wide array of new game releases. The variety of games available cover everything from classic multiplayer shooting games to peaceful farming simulators, making it an attractive option for all types of players. Thanks to its massive appeal, Steam frequently offers sales and discounts on various titles, enabling fans to purchase top-rated games for a fraction of their original price.

By changing the way PC gamers interact with and explore video game offerings, Steam managed to dominate this industry by being the favorite platform among gamers worldwide. Millions of people are using Steam. The number of game releases on Steam has been steadily increasing, with only seven games launched in 2004 while in 2018 it jumped to over 8100. However, there was a slight decrease in new releases in 2019 but it sharply increased again by 23%, reaching 9635 games in 2020. This was mainly due to the high demand for video games during the Covid pandemic.

The platform released the largest number of new games ever seen, with 10,963 new titles in 2022. The most popular games on Steam are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, and Lost Ark.
